High Back Recliner Chair – Ultimate Support & Comfort

Discover the benefits of a tall back recliner: full neck-to-lumbar support, premium materials, and ergonomic designs that transform your relaxation.

Price range: $400–$1,800+ depending on features and upholstery

Why a high back recliner? Unlike standard models, a tall back recliner provides complete head and neck support, reducing strain on your upper spine. Ideal for tall individuals, or anyone seeking a more ergonomic seating posture during long reading, TV, or work sessions.

What Makes a High Back Recliner Different?

Full Support & Posture

A high back recliner extends well above the shoulders, cradling the entire spine. This design reduces slouching, aligns the neck with the torso, and helps prevent stiffness. Many models include an integrated headrest and built-in lumbar support.

Neck & head cushioning – reduces tension headaches.
Lumbar adjustment – some models offer inflatable or mechanical lumbar.
Tall-friendly – 6’+ users finally get proper neck support.

Materials & Durability

High back recliners come in various upholsteries, from top-grain leather to premium fabric and microfiber. For easy maintenance, consider faux leather options that are both durable and budget-friendly.

Leather – classic, breathable, ages well.
Fabric – softer, warmer, available in many colors.
Microfiber – stain-resistant and pet-friendly.

Frame materials: solid hardwood or engineered steel for stability.

Finding the Right Fit: Height & Weight

For Tall Individuals (6’+)

Look for models with an extended backrest (at least 28 inches from seat to top). The seat depth should be 20–22 inches to support your thighs. Many tall recliner models also have higher weight capacities (300–400 lbs).

Our pick: extra-wide heavy-duty lift chairs offer both height and weight support.

For Petite or Average Build

If you’re under 5’8”, a high back recliner with adjustable headrest is ideal. Some models offer a petite recliner chair version with shallower seat depth (18–19 inches) so your feet can rest comfortably on the floor.

Always test the seat height – your feet should touch the ground when sitting upright.

Power Recline vs. Manual – Which One?

⚡ Power Recliners

Effortless adjustment with a button – ideal for anyone with mobility concerns or who wants infinite position control. Many modern power recliners include USB ports, memory settings, and even massage/heat functions.

Price: $600–$1,800+

🔄 Manual Recliners

Classic lever or push-back mechanism. More affordable, lighter, and no electricity needed. Perfect for budget-conscious buyers or those who prefer a simple, reliable mechanism.

Price: $400–$1,200
